Chevellabration 2012 - Recap
Chevellabration 2012
Chevellabration 2012 gets under way Thursday, June 6th.

Day 3
Mooresville, NC – Saturday at Chevellabration was the final day of a great show and it was also the day that awards were handed out. The best part of the show awards is that the winners are judged by their peers. Saturday morning brought out the weekend warriors as the crowd size increased as well as the number of Chevelles. If you hadn't made your way around the massive grounds of Moss-Wright park, this was the day to do it. During the afternoon there were lots of cool things to do including posing in the group shot of the Chevelle World cover shoot, the spark plug changing contest and much more. 3:00 PM was here before you knew it and it was time for the awards. David Beach won the Detroit Speed $100.00 gift certificate and Tom Farrington was a top-three winner in the Modified 1966 Class. Also winning was current DSE project owner, Randy Fricke. Randy won a top-three award for the 1970 Stock class. Congratulations guys! This is always a great event and working with ACES president Chuck Hanson and show announcer Dave Sharp is always a pleasure. We look forward to seeing everybody out next year.

Day 2

Mooresville, NC –
More, more, more. That seemed to be the theme for Friday at the Chevellabration show. More people at the show, more A-Bodies rolled in and more fun for all as the day was filled with exciting things to do for the kids and adults. The kids were able to race peddle carts and Matchbox cars while the adults played "Redneck Horseshoes" and finished off the evening on the autocross.

There was definitely a little more electricity in the air on Friday. One after another, A-Body after A-Body rolled into Moss-Wright park and once again filled the grounds of Chevellabration. This was also the day that award voting took place. The patrons at the event actually vote amongst their peers to determine the overall winners. The winner's will be announced tomorrow at 3:00 PM.

There was also a buzz growing from the spectators as today was the day for autocrossing action which was held at the dragstrip parking lot only minutes away from Moss-Wright park from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. There was a great turnout with novices and more experienced drivers mixing it up for the Fast Lap time award from Detroit Speed and a $250.00 gift certificate. Tom Farrington set the tone early running a a sub 18 time which was being chased by many competitors throughout the evening. Although a few came close, no one could top Tom and he ended up winning the Fast Lap Time with a 17.307 at the Detroit Speed sponsored autocross. Congratulations Tom! Not only was Tom putting up great times but his son Sam made a run and put in a time of 19 seconds which was only 2 seconds off of Tom's pace. Greg Callahan finished 2nd in the autocross with a time of 17.753 while Rick Byfield finished 3rd with a time of 18.916.

We hope to see everybody back out tomorrow for the final day of the event!

Day 1
Mooresville, NC
 – The Chevellabration show got under way Thursday morning under perfect weather conditions and the A-Bodies instantly piled in to Moss-Wright Park to begin the worship to all things Chevelle, otherwise known as Chevellabration. As always, ACES president, Chuck Hanson was on the prowl making sure everybody knew where to go and what was going on. The Detroit Speed hauler had a prime position overlooking the field where all the Chevelles, Malibus and El Caminos gathered. The cars kept coming in and before you knew it there was a sea of color littering the otherwise green grass of the beautiful Moss-Wright park in Goodlettsville, TN.

After everyone settled in to their spots, Chuck Hanson and Dave Sharpe pointed everyone over to the seminar tent for the official opening ceremony of the show. This was a chance for spectators, competitors and vendors alike to gather and receive all the information they need to make their way through the Chevellabration weekend.

After the first session of seminars ended in mid-afternoon, car owners took one more lap around the park to check out everyone else's ride before packing it up and getting ready for the cruise to the Nashville Dragstrip for a night of drag racing and fun.

Tomorrow brings an early 8:00 o'clock start and more Chevellabration fun. Kyle Tucker will be giving his seminar at 3:00 with autocross action to follow from 5-7 at the Nashville Dragstrip. If you're not out here, jump in your Chevelle and get on out to Goodlettsville, TN and the Chevelllabration Show!

Check back tomorrow night for highlights from day 2!
