Mooresville, NC – Detroit Speed was thrilled to have our new 1966 Mustang Test Car named the Muscle Car of the Year by Popular Hot Rodding during their first annual Muscle Car of the Year competition. The competition is based on recent muscle car projects that were completed in the past 12 months and represent the best in all around performance. Ten competitors were invited out to National Trail Raceway the Monday following the Goodguys Columbus Nationals. The event was a three part competition that included drag racing, a speed stop challenge as well as an autocross. Each car had to make 10 passes on the speed stop, 10 passes on the 1/4 mile and 10 passes on the autocross so if there were any weaknesses on the car they would surely be exposed.
