The DSE Test Cars take Three of the Top Ten Spots at Run to the Alamo 2012

| Mooresville, NC – The first American Street Car Series event took place this past weekend in Texas with the 1st Annual “Run to the Alamo.” Ryan and Matt of Detroit Speed drove the Mustang Test Car 1200 miles from the shop to eventually be greeted Friday morning by unusually cold and wet weather. The wet weather didn’t damper their nor the other participants spirits as everyone took part in the cruise and scavenger hunt that ended at Vintage Air with a full tour of the facility and a REAL Texas barbecue dinner. Thanks again to everybody at Vintage Air for their gracious hospitality. Saturday was track day at Harris Hill Road Course in San Marcos, TX; along with it, more rain. Since these are street cars, we didn’t let the wet track deter our event. After a short driver’s meeting, DSE made their way out to the track with the 1969 Camaro, 1970 Camaro, and new 1966 Mustang Test Car. The test Cars ran all day with only one stop for lunch. All vehicles performed flawlessly. The 1969 Camaro with Kyle driving finished 2nd overall, the Mustang with Ryan driving finished 3rd, and the 1969 Camaro with Stacy driving finished 7th. Detroit Speed was happy to see some familiar DSE "Equipped" vehicles and their owners out at the track including Mike Yale in his 1970 Camaro, Tom Farrington in his 1966 Chevelle, Terry Neuville in his 1968 Camaro and Billy Utley in his 1972 Nova. Additionally, the 1966 Mustang Test Car received the “Long Distance” award for driving 1200 miles all the way from North Carolina to Texas. And if that wasn’t enough shakedown time, Kyle tallied 1200 more miles of seat time on the drive back after the event. This was a DSE contingency eligible event, and the results will be posted shortly. Detroit Speed would like to congratulate our multiple customers who finished in the Top 5 and Top 10. Our next event will be March 9th – 11th for the American Street Car Series Run to the Coast at El Toro in California. Click here for more pictures from the event.
