Mooresville, NC - With the 2011 SEMA show being such a historic show for Detroit Speed you would think it would be nearly impossible to top. Detroit Speed did just that only one year after that memorable show with a terrific 2012 show.
The 2012 SEMA show started with a bang with three Detroit Speed Test Cars, the 1969 Camaro Test Car, the 1970 Camaro Test Car and the 1966 Mustang Test Car in the OUSCI car corral awaiting their shot at the OUSCI crown that was to be held the day after the SEMA show. Detroit Speed also had their new Mustang products on display including the new Mustang Aluma-Frame Front Suspension that was up for a new product award. Although the Aluma-Frame didn't win, it was a huge honor to be recognized as the Runner-Up for the Best New Engineered products coming in behind Mastershift and their Paddle Shifter that works with a T-56 transmission.
Detroit Speed also had their stamp on many cars that were on the show floor including Mark Stielow's 1967 Detroit Speed "Equipped" Camaro, Jet-Hot's Detroit Speed Built 1965 Chevy II "Surf Wagon" and the much anticipated Detroit Speed Built "Rowdy" Camry that was waiting for the announcement of the Toyota Dream Build Challenge winner at the Toyota booth.
This is such a fantastic event and Detroit Speed was thrilled to see the logo on many different awesome vehicle all around the show floor. Thanks to everybody who made it happen for us and for the show. We are already looking forward to the 2013 show.
The Detroit Speed Build "Rowdy" Camry Wins the Toyota Dream Build Challenge.
Detroit Speed and Kyle Busch were thrilled to learn that the Detroit Speed built "Rowdy" Camry won the 1st ever Toyota Dream Build Challenge held at the 2012 SEMA show. The finalists were displayed at the Toyota booth Tuesday, October 30th at 11:00 AM during the live streaming broadcast from the show. Rutledge Wood was on hand to meet the drivers and introduce the public to the four builds.
With the win, Kyle Busch was awarded a check of $50,000 to be donated to the Kyle Busch Foundation whose mission is to empower young men and women by fostering life experiences and helping them achieve their goals.
Detroit Speed would like to thank Kyle Busch for trusting us with the "Rowdy" Camry build and for all the hard work and dedication from our employees.
