OUSCI-Tux-Shoot (2 of 2)
The Detroit Speed, Inc. built 'TUX' 1969 Camaro owned by dedicated customer, Stuart Adams, took home the coveted SEMA Battle of the Builders title on Friday Nov. 2 at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, NV!
Detroit Speed has won the award twice since the company won the inaugural event in 2014. Both wins were with 1969 Camaros. Detroit Speed is the only builder to have won the award twice.
The competition was stiff this year in all four categories. In the Hot Rod category specifically, Detroit Speed was paired against two other superbly built cars, a 1936 Ford Roadster by Dale Boesch and a 1970 Camaro by Phil and Jeremy Gerber of Roadster Shop – fellow builders Detroit Speed is honored to call friends and competitors.
After being nominated the Hot Rod category winner, ‘TUX’ was judged against the other three category winners before being announced the overall 2018 SEMA Battle of the Builders winner. This award is one of many 2018 accolades ‘TUX’ has received including a Great 8 finalist, Goodguys Street Machine of the Year, and the Shades of the Past Triple Crown.  The 2018 SEMA Battle of the Builders competition will be broadcast on Monday, Jan. 7 at 10pm EST on the Velocity channel.
Detroit Speed, Inc. would like to thank Stuart Adams for his partnership and dedication to Detroit Speed, its nearly 60 employees that operate the Mooresville, NC-based company, and the following partners for their involvement and dedication to this build:
