Corvettes at Carlisle 2018

Mooresville, NC (August 28th, 2018): We are excited to announce that the Detroit Speed, Inc. maiden voyage to Corvettes and Carlisle in Pennsylvania was a success! Carlisle is known for hosting some of the largest automotive related events in the Northeast for many years and our last visit was back in 2013, so we were due to revisit. It only made sense that we explore the Corvette show with the recent release of our SpeedRay™ and DECA-Link™ suspension systems for C2/C3 applications.

We couldn't have asked for better weather for this event, everyday was absolutely perfect. I suppose the recent downpour of rain in Pennsylvania cleared up just in time! We kicked off Friday by lining the Detroit Speed 1972 Corvette up for the American Flag display. Event coordinators took red, white, and blue Corvettes and arranged them for a spectacular tribute to America and it's number 1 sports car. Check out the photo in our album and see if you can spot our Greenwood tribute themed car!

Saturday proved to be the busiest day of the event as attendees lined up at the gates just as the sun rose! As we arrived, it was time to get the '72 over to the Lingenfelter King of the Cross autocross showdown. This event featured no tire restrictions, so many competitors rolled up to the line equipped with slicks, this meant our BFGoodrich Rival S street tires were going to get a workout! As the practice laps commenced, Kyle Tucker was proving a point that old school is still cool as he crept up within a few tenths of a second on a couple C6 Corvettes on slicks. The format for the race was a Top 8 time trial showdown that would crown 1 winner with the fastest times as King of the Cross. Kyle was able to achieve a 3rd place finish in the '72 Corvette behind a C6 Z06 and C6 Grand Sport, both on slicks. We'll have to come back with a a set of BFGoodrich G-Force R1's to take home that title! You can see a video of Kyle's fastest runs below...

Throughout the weekend, our very own sales and technical engineer Dan Oddy was available in the Corvette America booth to answer questions about our products recently installed on their C3 Corvette display chassis. During the afternoon hours on Saturday, Dan also hosted 3 seminars to further explain the benefits and features of our front/rear suspension and electrical products. Each seminar hosted an array of engaged corvette enthusiasts her were looking to improve upon their vehicles. Dan also wrapped up each seminar with a Q&A session that allowed for customers to speak one on one.

Up next for the Detroit Speed Tour is LS Fest East in Bowling Green, Kentucky September 7th-9th, Shades of the Past in Pigeon Forge, Tennesee September 7th-8th and Go-Pro Cruise-In in Mooresville, North Carolina September 18th. Hopefully you can make it out to see us, and be sure to check in to our Speed Tour to keep up with where we'll be next.
