Cruisin Ocean City 2018

Cruisin' Ocean City is easily one of the largest car shows on the Northeast side of the United States. You simply cannot go wrong with four days of hot rod and muscle car action taking over the island! Unfortunately in 2018 Mother Nature let it rain, but the spirit of the event did not let a little water get in the way of enjoying all things automotive. This was the first year that Detroit Speed, Inc. made the voyage from North Carolina to Maryland to see what all of the hype was truly about! Even with the weather, we were not disappointed by the amount of both cars and people that made their way to the Ocean City Inlet to check out some rides and see what's new among the industry. The event kicked off on Thursday and by 9am, the Inlet parking lot was beginning to fill with various types of hot rods and muscle cars. There was everything from over the top roadsters to pro-street drag cars and just about everything in-between. Each day of the event brought more variation in cars and you never could knew what to expect to pull into the parking lot next. Among those cars to pull into the lot was Nick Weber's 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle that has been converted into a uni-body car to allow for maximum lowered ride height. Nick's car caught our eyes on Saturday when he pulled up and parked towards the back of the lot, making him stand out from the rest in a wide open space. As part of Detroit Speed's event sponsorship, we chose a winner for the "Detroit Speed Cruisin' OC Special Award" and as soon as we saw this one of a kind '69 Chevelle, we knew this was it. The greatest part about the car is that Nick built it himself at home in his one-car garage.

Despite the weather, we got an idea of what this event is all about! If you eat, sleep, and breath American muscle, this is the place to be. Next up in the Detroit Speed Tour will be Kyle Tucker and the BFG Garage taking on SCCA CAM Challenge in Mineral Wells, Texas with the 1987 Camaro DSE-Z. Right after that, the crew heads up to Norwalk, Ohio for the Super Summit Show where we will have Detroit Speed Brand Ambassador Bryan Johnson giving autocross rides in our 1970 Camaro.
