Powdercoated Hydroformed Subframe - (1970-81 Camaro / Firebird - Base Shocks - SBC / LS)

Product Code: 032014

Detroit Speed’s Hydroformed subframe is a bolt-in replacement for the original stock subframe. It improves the handling and ride quality by utilizing Detroit Speed’s unique suspension geometry. It is the ONLY subframe in the aftermarket industry with hydroformed frame rails. The hydroformed frame rails feature strength and stiffness, precise quality and repeatability. Hydroforming preserves the steel’s strength and stiffness because it is performed at low temperatures, unlike traditional high temperature processes which decrease material strength.

The Detroit Speed, Inc. Subframe Comes With The Following Components:
• Hydroformed Framerails
• Stamped Crossmembers
• Tubular Upper and Lower Control Arms
• DSE/JRi Coilover Shocks with 'Detroit Tuned' valving
• Torrington Bearings
• Coilover Springs
• 'Detroit Tuned' Power Rack and Pinion Steering
• Splined Sway Bar
• Forged Detroit Speed Spindle
• Spanner Tool for easy shock adjustments
• Composite Anti-Roll bar bushings

Spring Rate: 550lbs/in
Spring Free Length: 8in

Up to a 10" wide wheel can be packaged without modification to the inner wheel wells. Both the main and secondary crossmembers are stamped for structural rigidity. SBC, BBC, LS1, LS2, and LS7 engines have been designed as a direct bolt-in into this subframe.

Our subframe has been designed, engineered, and developed for the road and track. This subframe blends the benefits of current OEM technology and aftermarket performance into one product!

The subframe is available uncoated and unassembled for your SBC, BBC, LS, or Pontiac engine. We also offer the subframe powdercoated satin black and assembled.

Base Shock:
The DSE/JRI ‘Detroit Tuned’ base shock is a ‘pure blood pedigree’ racing shock in its most efficient form as a non-adjustable unit. Although
non-adjustable, it shares all the increased dynamic responses of all the JRI adjustable models while providing excellent ride quality on the street.

Note: Subframe must ship freight.

Note: Must use at least 17” wheels that require a minimum inside wheel diameter of 16.250".

Note: For competition applications, the Detroit Speed rack & pinion fluid transfer conversion kit will replace the hardlines on your Detroit Speed rack & pinion using -4 AN steel fittings. The hoses are Teflon lined to handle the high pressure demands of the steering system and come with pre-crimped stainless steel fittings to attach to the -4 AN fittings.

I made a mistake the 1st time and bought the competitor and had multiple problems, but that's not the case here. You get a sturdier chassis with a lot less headache. These people do their homework and make a most trouble free and durable chassis I have had the pleasure of installing. The ride is smoother than factory and really gives you confidence.

Handling, OMG the handling is terrifying. You will have to make your friends wear diapers or risk ruining your seats. I have never driven a more glued to the road 2nd gen, so if you like to scare your buddies this is a must have. I have to say I am impressed!

Must have!

This Detroit Speed subframe is worth the investment. Nice sturdy modern OEM design versus a bunch of square tubing welded together like many other brands. Perfect package and direct bolt on. Not worth pouring money into a stock frame to obtain R&P steering, coil overs, tubular control arms etc. My only complaint is not being able to clear 315 tires with no mods and the availability of a Detroit Speed transmission crossmember. No regrets on the investment here.
